The Diving

Roatan is truly a diver's paradise.

The Inn's 3 - 42 ft. dive boats, built by island craftsmen, are beauties, and stand ready to ferry you to a stunning array of dive and snorkel sites. "Miss Susan", "Special Lady", and “Capt Ariel” are berthed alongside the roomy and smartly equipped dive shop, convenient to air and nitrox tanks, rental gear and a very spacious area for dive equipment storage during your stay. Snorkeling and shore diving in our protected lagoon is perfection!

You can experience many intriguing adventures on Roatan:

  • Snorkel or dive with Dolphins
  • Tour an original fishing village
  • Cruise the mangrove canals in a kayuka
  • Visit Marble Hill Farms to buy original batik or homemade tropical condiments
  • Dance with the Garifunas (we'll explain when you arrive)
  • Explore the Island Institute of Marine Sciences

One day a week, weather permitting, we take everyone by dive boat to the deserted beach area between West End and West Bay, for a picnic lunch and snorkeling, between the morning dives and the afternoon dive on the way back from the beach.

Behind the resort is another body of water, that's our lagoon.  We do not have a sandy beach, and therefore don't have much problem with sand flies.  The lagoon is lovely, has a long dock, with a platform that has one side shaded with a hammock and the other side with a couple of lounge chairs for sunbathing.  The water is clear and shallow and the snorkeling is excellent there, as the lagoon is protected from the sea by the reef at the entrance.  There are steps at the dock to allow easy access to the water. Also snorkelers/sunbathers are allowed to go on the dive boats, and we have constructed the tops of the dive boats with ladders and toe rails to allow easy access for sunbathing.   For snorkelers on the vacation package of 5 nights or more, there is no charge for using our snorkel gear.
